Despite widespread uptake of 5G, Omdia forecasts that from 2022 to 2028, mobile ARPU will decline (from $6.3 to $5.8) due to factors such as price competition and the cost-of-living crisis.

Over the same period, telecom industry capex will grow from $355bn to $382bn, a CAGR of 1.3%, driven by greater spending on fixed access networks, cloud infrastructure, and the adoption of new IT systems. One area that looks set to decline is spending on mobile RAN.
